In 2007 the Township purchased a large acreage with water frontage in the Frenchman’s Rock Road area. With assistance from the Province of Ontario a municipal water front park is being developed. This park is for day use only with no plans for overnight camping. The first phase of the project was completed in November 2008. This phase included brush & tree removal, development of a parking lot and access trail, landscaping and seeding of the picnic area. In 2010 the picnic pavilion(s) and the toilet/change rooms were completed. With financial assistance from the Federal and Provincial Governments under the Build Canada program in 2009-2010 the park has been enlarged, walking trails and playground equipment have been installed. The official opening was held September 4th 2010. Better wheelchair access from the parking area to the pavilion and beach area is being considered for 2019.

Oscar Bay Beach (blue) signs on Hwy 11 and Hwy 621 are being removed (after November 2018). And therefore the following are directions for access to our beach area at 540 Frenchman’s Rock Road is by turning north at Sleeman ON from Hwy 11 and travel northerly for a distance of 34.6 kms on Hwy 621 and then turn west for 2.7 kms on Frenchman’s Rock Road. The parking area and beach is on the left.
