Regulations

A team made up of Ontario residents, tourism, and the Ministry of Natural Resources set limits to the catch and possession limits of fish to ensure that Lake of the Woods remains healthy and contains a sustainable population of fish. They establish closed seasons and provide sanctuaries for spawning.
These regulations often change from year to year.

The links below will direct you to the government sites pertaining to fishing and hunting licenses and regulations. Before you cast your line to catch the “Big One”, make sure you have the necessary licenses and know the regulations for fishing at Lake of the Woods.

If you are planning your vacation at a resort, ask them if they provide fishing or hunting licenses. You can also get your licenses (and some great food) at the Bergland Cafe on Highway 621 in Bergland.
